Put God first.

The first commandment is: Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. It’s pretty straightforward and direct. It is no coincidence that this is the first commandment. That’s how important it is to put God first.

If we put God first in our lives, he promises to take care of our needs. Jesus reminds us(Matthew Chapter 6): “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We can begin to put God first by the actions of our morning routine. When we wake up, we can choose to spend time praying and studying God’s word instead of heading straight for the news and social media. It’s not that those things are bad, but the timing of it is off.

Starting our day with God- putting him first- strengthens us spiritually. It creates a better version of our day- a day where we are more likely to resist the adversary’s temptations and more easily hear and follow the Holy Spirit’s promptings. It will always be the best way to start the day.

I hope this message finds you well!

God bless!
